SEO for… Accounting Firms

I’m Silvia, Director of PinkSEO, an SEO Agency in West London – and I’m continuing with my “SEO for…” series.

Today, it’s Accountants. We have clients with Accountancy Firms in London – so how do we optimise their sites?

First of all, something we do for every type of business we work for: we audit their sites so we can understand what their ideal new customers are searching for on Google.

What would they like to be found for? Do they have a specific niche they enjoy working with?

Being found for keywords like “accountants for” + [medical profession], [property], [hospitality], etc, can cut the competition, and make you niche-specific in the eyes of your ideal customer.

(Can you see what we’re doing with this series “SEO For”? Try searching for “SEO for doctors and dentists” and you’ll find one of our old – very old – pieces of content that is still ranking on the 1st page of Google, and it has been driving us leads for 3 years and more).

Accountancy Firms often rely on local traffic, which means they prefer to work with customers based in specific zones, and local keywords are really easy to rank for – an easy win!

Targeting local keywords is good because it helps you decrease the number of competitors that you are trying to outrank.

SEO is a zero-sum type of game, so you only get to rank in the top 10 positions if you manage to get someone else down – and in order to achieve this, your site needs to be better (optimised) than theirs.

It’s like a race: it can be easier to win if you are competing against a shorter number of competitors.

Regardless of the type of business that you have, have you considered if targeting geo-localised keywords would be a good idea for you?

Plus, we make sure our clients have the right pages to be found online, by their ideal customers and for the right queries. If they don’t, then we can create the right type of content to fill those gaps.

We create these new pages or articles for our clients based on particular strengths, preferences, and business targets. They then have these at their disposal to reshare on their social media, Medium, and Google My Business – another amazing tool for local businesses, free yet often fairly underestimated.

They can be used as LinkedIn articles, and in newsletters that we recommend they send out in order to keep in touch with their existing clients, showing them the outstanding service they provide, sending out tips and reminders, to stay on top for leads and referrals.

All this, along with the best type of technical optimisation.

You may not know that there are some specific types of code that can be added to a website to explain to the search engine more clearly what that page is about.

It’s called Structured Data, it’s not new, it’s been existing for more than 10 years, yet you wouldn’t believe that less than 50% of the Fortune 500 websites use it, based on research from Semrush.

Semrush one of the biggest SEO tools worldwide (source https://www.semrush.com/blog/what-is-schema-beginner-s-guide-to-structured-data/#microdata-schema-use-among-u-s–fortune-500-companies).

Yet, there is a type of JSON that precisely describes most types of business, including Accounting Services! Now, do you know any Accountants who need more clients? Please refer them to us.

Particularly, the proactive ones, the ones who tell their clients when they need more leads and sales – but they are not getting any from their sites!
